Transport by land

Trucking is the backbone of the distribution of goods in our economy. It's how food gets to grocery stores and restaurants, how clothing is transported to retail outlets, how large machinery is moved, and how cars, crops, and animals all get to market. For all its importance, trucks are overlooked or seen as nuisance.

This series celebrates big rigs, the fine pieces of machinery that haul all this cargo -- and the essential workers who load and unload goods, and drive hours and days at a time to get them where they need to go.
